Can't Sleep

Today is our BIG day…the day that we have waited a long time for. The day we spent many days praying and dreaming of. It is hard to imagine that today is the day we will be forever joined with our son whom we fell in love with on June 26, 2007 and have loved him even more each day since then.

And as you can imagine, I (Kristie) can’t sleep. I woke up this morning at 3:00 a.m. with my heartbeat racing. I felt like my mother’s dog Kapono who wakes up in high gear. So what’s a girl to do at 3:00 a.m. while her husband is sleeping like a log you ask? Well, update our blog for our faithful watchers, re-pack the diaper bag for the 100th time, inflate Yu-Lin’s tub, and touch the corners of his crib imagining that tonight we will have this beautiful son sleeping in it. My heart is filled with so much emotion that it is so difficult to describe and so hard to type without crying. Man, I will be a mess today…thank goodness for waterproof mascara! I hope to go back and get a little more sleep because as my mother always told me that once you become a parent you never have a good night’s sleep again because you will always worry about your child no matter how old they are.

Fion is picking us up at 11:30 a.m. for the two hour drive to Feng Yuan which is located in Taichung County to meet with the Taiwan Women’s and Children’s Association before heading to the foster family’s home to finally meet Yu-Lin. We will then go to the famous baby store that my fellow JOH families have all talked about to get some goodies for Yu-Lin (and you know how much I LOVE to shop…so I will be in sheer heaven). After our shopping spree, we will drive back to Taipei and begin the rest of our lives as parents! Check back tomorrow as we will try to upload pictures from today if we can pull overselves away long enough from staring at our most precious gift!
