Visa & Martyr Shrine

Yu-Lin's visa was ready today which officially allows him to leave Taiwan. Fion is so great because she went to AIT to pick up the visa and then met us. This allowed us time to lounge around the hotel and relax. As much as we wanted to see a lot of Taiwan while we were here, we opted against visiting some of the sites because we were concerned about Yu-Lin's health. Afterall, he was our primary concern and wanted to make sure he was well enough to travel home on Friday.

We visited the Martyr Shrine. It was beautiful and to see the changing of the guards was wonderful. We learned that if Yu-Lin stayed in Taiwan, he would be required to join the Taiwan military when he turned 18 and would have to serve 1 1/2 years in the military. After the 1 1/2 year was completed, the government of Taiwan could still call all men back to military service or for additional training until they are 45 years old. So you will notice how young the guards look in these pictures.

I once only had one man in my life and now I have these two adorable guys : )

That last photo is a beauty! The memorials and sights are wonderful, but the family photos say it all!
