New Year's is a HUGE deal in Hawaii. And when I say HUGE, I really do mean HUGE!!! It is a custom to pop A LOT of fireworks on New Year's eve and especially at midnight to chase away all the bad spirits and to welcome a New Year full of new beginnings and much blessings. This year we had a great time with Yu-Lin. We bought him some poppers to help him ring in the new year. We spent some time practicing it with him before New Year's eve so he knew what to do. We were confident he would enjoy it on New Years. Well to our amazement, he was not having anything to do with those silly poppers and instead wanted the firecrackers that the big kids were playing with. Eeek!
