Our first week at home was complete joy coupled with exhaustion like we never experienced before. Yu-Lin is such a wonderful child and we truly feel so blessed to be given him to raise as our child...but we have discovered how hard of a transition this has been for him. Many people believe that babies don't feel/know anything, but I am here to say that it is not true. They in fact do. In his short life, Yu-Lin has been through soo many changes and caregivers that I'm not so sure if I would be a trooper either if I had to go through what he did. The first week he was always a darling when he was awake, but he found it very very difficult to sleep and/or nap. I think he was afraid that when he woke up there would be new people there again. At night, he would have these painful cries before sleeping and then wake up constantly throughout the night crying and looking for us. So as much as we didn't want to sleep with him, this was the only way any of us could get any sleep at night.
Also, during his first week he had many FIRST:
Meeting his four legged sisters
Meeting his sisters for the first time was quite interesting. Neither of them could make of the other. The girls were so happy to be home, but quickly realized they had stepped down a notch to this thing that cries and is always being carried by their parents. It has been an adjustment for them and we notice they are more needy now than before. In following our dog trainer's advice, we have TRIED to give them lots of love and attention, but that was challenging with Yu-Lin needing so much from us. We are hopeful this will improve for the girls.

Daddy...save me from this thing pulling on me.

Daddy can you put that thing down and rub my belly pleeeeaaaaassssseee.

Well I guess this thing ain't leaving so we better do to him what we do to mommie and daddy...charge.

Meeting his Uncle Big Guy, Auntie V., and four legged cousin Mickey
Yu-Lin just loves his Auntie because she is soo sweet and also talks to him in Mandarin. He also loved his cousin Mickey...kept petting him and of course who doesn't like Uncle Big Guy. Yu-Lin's only request is to please keep tossing me around because it was soo much fun.Meeting some of mommie's co-workers
Uncle H, I love your flower shirt. Mommie, why do men wear flower shirts in Hawaii? Son, this will one day be your formal work attire when you become a big boy. Oh, I see.

I see Mommie...even Uncle N has one of these flower shirts too..I just love all the colors.
But Mommie, how come Uncle F doesn't have a flower shirt? Hmmmm..I'm confused now.Auntie T, Auntie K, and Auntie D...will my mommie ever have time to scrapbook again...she does have all these silly pictures of me that she keeps telling she will make a book for me...maybe she needs to stop blogging and work on my book before I'm 10 : )

Meeting grandma's co-workers
Grandma kept asking us to bring Yu-Lin to meet her co-workers. We clearly made her day because she had the entire gang (probably 100 of them) come to meet her newest grandson.

Meeting his Uncle P, Auntie S, and cousin R (both year of the golden pig babies)
Yu-Lin really loved meeting his cousin..and in fact, he loves other babies.
Meeting our dear friends R, A, and K
Auntie A is a pro at this..and thanks for the tips for our little guy. As you can see he really loved his Auntie

First doctor visits and first visit to McDonald's
So this is my Dr. S. Mommie I see he is also wearing a flower shirt. When can I have one?

Dr. S gave him a clean bill of health and said he was on track developmentally for his age. Yippeee.

Yu-Lin did so well for his first appointment. He didn't even cry when he got his TB test.
He did, however, cry when he had to get all that wax cleaned out of his ear. There was soo much that it had to be flushed out. It is amazing he could hear us with all that was in there.

And of course as a treat for being so good at the doctor we paid a visit to a kid's favorite place to eat..McDonalds. He naturally couldn't eat a hot fudge sundae with mommie, but could eat his milk.

As you can see one of Yu-Lin's favorite things to do is pull hair...he got me good on this one.First Halloween
Yu-Lin's first Halloween started off at the mall and we saw this cute set up in front of the game room

Mommie why are you always putting silly things on me. What the heck is this that I got on. But since I love you so much, I will pretend I'm enjoying myself.
So whatcha think...does he make a cute monkey?
Of course his sister Ruthie thought he was a pretty cute looking Monkey too and wanted to lay a wet one on him

and attended his first birthday party for his cousin K

Yu-Lin had so much fun that he was pooped out!

Whew..that was a lot..no wonder he didn't want to sleep much the first week home (note to parents....do not overstimulate your child or else you will pay the price later).

Whew! That was quite a week for your adorable Yu-Lin! I think he's trying to tell you he needs a flowered shirt :) Everyone looks so happy holding him -- I know that's a reflection not only of his darling personality, but also how happy your friends and family are for you!
He is so cute with your dogs!!! Alex Yi-Cheng is going to meet our dog for the first time tonight (we kept him at the dog sitter's house an extra two days), and I'm a little anxious since he's a very energetic dog and not small (but not huge either).
He looks so happy and I'm so glad you're all home. Hope the sleeping gets better!
Wow! Now I'm tired! Im just glad I dont have your Christmas card size list of people to send too! LOL! Welcome Home!
